Because by Matteo Marangio

This piece for solo oboe was created to celebrate the centenary of Luciano Berio's birth. The title alludes to the famous *Sequenza* for trombone, in which the performer must articulate the vowels U, A, and I—sounds that recall the English word "why." The work is intended as a symbolic response to the great Italian composer; hence the title, "Because."
