"Crisantemi" is an elegy for string quartet by Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924).

The composer from Lucca wrote it one night in 1890, after he learned of the departure of his friend Amedeo di Savoia, Duke of Aosta.

The two themes that make up the piece possess all the elements of expressive lyricism that made the Tuscan composer famous; Puccini will propose them again in the last act of the work Manon Lescaut (1892); to express the abandonment of Manon and Des Grieux to their destiny, now "alone and lost in the desolate wasteland of Louisiana".

The attention of the performer will focus on the lyricism of the melodies through an expressive use of rhythmic parameters, in a flexibility capable of giving intensity to the emotions, with the support of a careful harmonic coloring.
